Speed Dating...With Books!

Yes, you heard me-speed dating with books :)

I'm so excited for this new idea to turn book reviews into a speed dating game!

This activity will help liven up those boring "book reports" or book talks. It also exposes students to tons of new book options, both fiction and non-fiction.

Each student will choose a book, and complete the Book Profile sheet. They will bring it to class on the final day[s] of the project, and participate in a speed dating activity with their books! There are scorecards and everything :)

This assignment is Common Core Standards-based, with the standards on the top of the Book Profile page. There are even different Book Profiles for Grades 8, 9/10, and 11/12, each with their specific standards listed. If your school has not transitioned to Common Core, these standards are EASILY adapted to your state's standards for ELA.

This product comes with a Rubric for the activity, Teacher Guidelines/Instructions, and a completed Book Profile example to show the students that I created using the book Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.

So if you're looking for something creative to do with your class these last few months of school, consider mixing it up and having fun with books! It's a great activity too because it does not require students to sit for hours on end listening to book reports; it locks them in for 6 minutes at a time and then they get to move! Perfect solution :)

Please head over to my TPT Store and check out my Standards-Based Book Review--Speed Dating Style.

Students will enjoy finding their perfect Book Match ;)
